Understanding Tuberculosis - A Half-day Workshop
Do you work with clients who have alcohol or drug problems, the homeless, prisoners, people living in poverty, poor or overcrowded conditions, or people with HIV? These groups are at a higher risk of developing active TB disease.
Left undiagnosed and untreated TB can kill.
TB is a resurgent disease and in the UK numbers have been increasing since the mid-80s, as they have done globally.
Are you concerned about the risks of getting TB yourself during the course of your work? Do you need to know more about the disease? Do you want to know how you can protect yourself?
Aim
A half-day workshop to raise awareness of tuberculosis (TB) among workers who come into contact with client groups who may be at a higher risk of developing active TB disease.
Who
The workshop is aimed at front line workers who work with the homeless, have alcohol or drug problems, people living in poverty, poor or overcrowded conditions, or people living with HIV.
Outcomes
The outcome of attending the workshop will be;·
- A better understanding of tuberculosis, its prevention and treatment.
- It will provide an insight into the impact of the disease on individuals and society today.
- An informed understanding of working with people who may be at a higher risk of developing active TB disease.
- A realistic perception of the risks of occupationally acquired TB.
- The workshop participants will develop an information sheet about TB for use within their own organizations.
We can deliver the workshop to your team in-house, or alternatively organise an external venue anywhere in the UK.
